Siwy Finishes Strong at ITA All-American

FRESNO, Calif. - Bulldog senior Rudolf Siwy proved he is among the nation's best this week at the ITA All-American Championship. Siwy began in the qualifying rounds on Monday, winning three straight matches to advance to the main draw. After claiming a spot in the main draw, Siwy picked up two more victories before running into Steven Moneke of Ohio State.
The round of 16 at the ITA All-American Championship main draw featured a matchup between No. 48 Siwy and No. 11 Moneke.
Siwy got off to a slow start as Moneke took the first set 6-0. The senior fought back in the second but was unable to take the set, when Moneke finished the match 6-0, 7-5.
"Overall, it was a good effort by Rudy to reach the round of 16," said head coach Jay Udwadia. "I'm proud of the way he competed and it is good for our team to be playing this well early in the fall season."
Next up for the 'Dogs is the ITA Regional Championship beginning Oct. 17 in Berkeley, Calif.
"I think our team is in a good position to compete in the Regionals," said Udwadia. "We have gained some valuable experience that will help us throughout the season."
