Revel Named WAC Defensive Player of the Week

FRESNO, Calif. - Kaitlyn Revel was named Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 7 through Oct. 12. Revel, a sophomore goalkeeper from San Mateo, Calif. (Aragon HS), recorded her fifth and sixth shutouts of the season over the weekend as the Bulldogs defeated San Jose State and tied defending WAC champion Hawaii.
"Kaitlyn had a great weekend for us," said coach Steve Springthorpe. She had solid games both on Friday against San Jose and on Sunday against Hawaii."
Revel totaled 18 saves and one point in the two double overtime games against San Jose State and Hawai`i.
Not only did she not allow a goal all weekend, the goalkeeper assisted on the game-winning goal against San Jose State. The sophomore helped the Bulldogs to a 1-0-1 record to begin conference play.
It is the second time in as many weeks that Revel has earned WAC Player of the Week honors and the fourth time in her career.
"It is always an honor for one of our players to be recognized by the conference and we want to thank the conference office for selecting her Defensive Player of the Week," said Springthorpe.
"Join the State, Fresno State!" - The `Dogs continue WAC play on the road as they travel to Louisiana Tech on Friday, October 17 at 5 p.m. They return to Bulldog Stadium on Friday, October 24 as they host Boise State at 7 p.m. It's Take a Kid to the Game Night and all kids 8th grade and under receive FREE admission to the match when accompanied by a paid adult. It's also Fresno State Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night and all Fresno State Faculty and Staff will receive $2 admission with the presentation of their Faculty/Staff ID at the box office.
