FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State soccer heads to Oregon to face Oregon State and Portland State before WAC play begins Oct. 10. The Bulldogs play Oregon State Friday Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. and Portland State on Oct. 5 at 11 a.m.
The Beavers are 5-4 and are coming off two overtime losses against Dartmouth and Weber State. The last time the Bulldogs and Beavers faced off was in 1996 and the Beavers pulled off a 3-2 victory in overtime. They defeated WAC opponent Utah State earlier in the season, 2-1.
"Oregon State is a PAC 10 program that is becoming one of the top 15 programs in the west region," said Coach Steve Springthorpe. "We are looking forward to the opportunity to see how we stack up with one of the PAC 10 programs. It will be a challenging game for us."
The Vikings are 1-8-2, and have faced two WAC schools this year. The Vikings tied Hawai'i, 1-1, over the past weekend and earned their lone win over Nevada. The Bulldogs traveled to Portland in 2006 and beat the Vikings, 2-0.
"Portland State is very similar to us right now. They have played well in many games but just have not been able to get the results they would like," said Springthorpe. "It will be two similar teams trying to get a result the week before conference play starts. I expect a hard fought game."
Fresno State is heads into the weekend with some momentum after beating Sacramento State, 2-0. Nicole Gutierrez and Molly Nizzoli scored for the Bulldogs. Kaitlyn Revel and the Bulldog defense recorded their third shutout against the Hornets.
This weekend is the final non-conference games before the Bulldogs open WAC play on the road against San Jose State on Oct. 10.
The Number 20 This week Ali Sill recorded her 20th career assist. Nicole Gutierrez scored her 20th career goal. Number 20 Alex Jensen scored her first goal. The number 20 showed up in big ways for the Bulldogs over the weekend.

Nizzoli Nets Fourth Goal Molly Nizzoli continues to be at the right place at the right time as she netted her fourth goal against Sacramento State. Nizzoli jumped into the freshmen record books tying in ninth place for goals scored as a freshman.
Gutierrez Goal Nicole Gutierrez records her 20th career goal and third goal of the season. Gutierrez needs five more goals to tie for fourth place on the all-time career list.
Revel Shutouts Again Kaitlyn Revel and the Bulldog defense record their third shutout of the year. Fresno State kept Sacramento State from scoring and only allowed them to take three shots. Revel needs one more shutout to tie Mary-tyler Wahl for third place in the record books.
