Siwy Claims Spot in Main Draw

FRESNO, Calif. - Bulldog senior Rudolf Siwy will play in the main draw of one of the nation's most prestigious tournaments, the ITA All-American Championship. Siwy will begin competition in the main draw of the singles tournament.
After a victory over Boris Fetbroyt of Maryland on Monday, and a win over Anton Stryhas of Sacramento State on Tuesday, Siwy was rewarded with a Wednesday match-up with No. 90 John Peers of Middle Tennessee State.
Siwy, the only Bulldog left in the ITA All-American Championship, and Peers engaged in a hard fought battle with the winner earning a spot in the main draw. Peers came out strong winning the first set 6-3. Siwy roared back, taking the second set 6-3, to force a third set. The Bulldog continued his stellar play in the third set, winning the match 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 and earning a spot in Thursday's main draw.
"It was a good three set match, and Rudy got stronger as the match went on," Head Coach Jay Udwadia said. "He played his best tennis of the day in the final set, and looks to be in good form for tomorrow's main draw."
For the second straight season the Fresno State senior went 3-0 in singles at during the ITA All-American qualifying rounds.
Siwy will continue his run through the ITA All-American against No. 3 Daniel Vallverdu of Miami on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. CST. All matches will be played at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa
