Fresno State is Competing at Pacific Invite

FRESNO, Calif.-The Bulldog men's golf team are in Stockton competing at the 2008 Pacific Invitational. The `Dogs had a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. this morning and are competing through Wednesday. The tournament is being held at the Brookside Country Club. The course is par 72, 6,687 yards.
The field consists of 12 teams including Marquette, Rice, Kansas State, Texas-San Antonio, BYU, Oregon, Northridge, Santa Barbara, Fresno State, UC Davis, Pacific and Sacramento State.
The line-up will be Grant Doverspike, Bryan Hogan, Todd Angel, Matt Ryan and Michael Gideon . Mon.-Wed. Nov. 3-5, there will be a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m and 18 holes played.
Last year the `Dogs averaged 72.58 to finish fifth of 14 teams. Grant Doverspike led the team and finished strong with a third round of 66 to take second place with 14-under par. Doverspike carded three rounds of 68-68-66 - 202 to finish three strokes behind the individual leader. Brad Wyatt placed in the Top-20 finishing six under par. Wyatt tied for 17th place with 71-67-72 - 210. Michael Gideon (71-71-75 - 217) and Matt Ryan (70-77-70 - 217) tied for 42nd place with one over. Todd Angel (72-74-76 - 222) took 57th place.
This will be the final tournament of the fall season before the Dogs open up the spring season Feb. 4-5 at the Hilo-Hawaii Invitational.
