Bulldogs Host West Virginia

FRESNO, Calif.-For only the fourth time in school history, the Fresno State women's basketball team will play a team from the Big East Conference as the Bulldogs host West Virginia on Saturday at 5 p.m. West Virginia is the first Big East team to ever visit Fresno. The Bulldogs played Georgetown on November 20, 1999 on a neutral floor and won 57-56. Fresno State has also played St. Johns twice, going 1-1, winning 60-49 on a neutral floor in 1997 and losing 70-59 in 1989 on the road.
Scouting WVU
West Virginia is 7-2 and coming off a 77-73 home loss to Indiana. Liz Repella leads in the Mountaineers in scoring at 15.9 points a game. Takisa Granberry is second on the team in scoring at 15.1 points and first in rebounding at 9.2 boards a contest.

Love at Home
The Bulldogs have recorded an impressive 46-7 record at the Save Mart Center under Adrian Wiggins and are currently riding a 14-game home winning streak. The school record for most consective home wins is 16. In 2006-07 the Bulldogs went 11-3 and in 2005-06 the Dogs boasted a school-best 15-1 record. Last year the Dogs went 10-3 at home and boasted a perfect 8-0 mark in WAC Play.
The seven home losses have been against tough competition as three teams were ranked in the Top 13 (No. 10 Arizona State, No. 12 Stanford and No. 13 Cal) and two teams were just outside the Top 25 in Oklahoma State and Utah. The other two home losses were to Loyola Marymount and Nevada.
10-Game Start
Fresno State's 7-3 start to the season is tied for the ninth best 10-game start in school history. Four Bulldog teams have started the season 9-1 (85-86, 86-87, 88-89, 04-05), four teams have started 8-2 (71-72, 79-80, 82-83, 84-85) and five teams have started the season 7-3 (72-73, 89-90, 96-97, 05-06, 08-09). The best 11 game start to a season is 10-1 by three Bulldog teams (85-86, 86-87, 04-05). Two teams have started the season 9-2 (79-80, 82-83) while three teams have started the year 8-3 (71-72, 72-73, 89-90).
Stingy Defense
The 29 points scored by Cal State Northridge was the fewest points the Bulldogs have allowed in a game since a 53-22 victory over Cal Poly in the 1974-75 season. In the win the Bulldogs held the Matadors to 20 percent shooting from the field and allowed only 12 field goals. The 29 points Northridge scored is the fewest points an opponent has scored against any WAC school this season.
Ross Climbing the School Record Books
Jaleesa Ross has hit 120 3-pointers on 286 attempts in her short career at Fresno State. The 120 three's ranks her seventh on the career record list for 3-pointers made. She needs four 3-pointers to pass Tierre Wilson and move into sixth place. . Her current 3-point field goal percentage is .420 good for first place on the career percentage Top 10 list.
Winning Big
Since Adrian Wiggins has been head coach at Fresno State, the Bulldogs have recorded 55 wins by 10 points or more. Last year 19 of the 22 wins were by double digits.
Bulldogs Breaking School and WAC Three-Point records
Fresno State hit a school and WAC record 16 3-pointers in the win over UCSB. The previous record was 15, set by the 1989 Bulldog team that beat Baylor on December 1. Then in the win over No.22 TCU the Bulldogs attempted a school and WAC record 41 3-pointers. The previous school record was 36 at Boise State in 2004. The previous WAC record was 40 set by Idahop in 2005-06 against Oklahoma State.
Bulldogs Against Schools From BCS Conferences
The Bulldogs have played 15 games against schools from BCS conferences since Adrian Wiggins has been the head coach. Fresno State is currently 3-12 with two wins coming against Arizona of Pac 10 and one win against No. 23 Texas Tech. Since the 1999-2000 season Fresno State is 7-22 against BCS conference schools.
