FRESNO, Calif.- - The Fresno State women's basketball team put up a strong fight over the final seven minutes but West Virginia was too strong as the Mountaineers snapped the Bulldogs 14-game home court winning streak, winning 68-63 on Saturday evening at the Save Mart Center.
"Tonight we took too long to start playing well," Fresno State coach Adrian Wiggins said. "West Virginia did a good job of rebounding really hard. We got back in the basketball game with great effort but to win the basketball game you have to a great effort the entire time. I didn't feel like we had that. West Virginia is a good basketball team and we will take a lot from this."
Fresno State dropped to 7-4 while West Virginia improved to 8-2. The Bulldogs finished with four players in double figures led by Jaleesa Ross' 15 points and four assists. LaShay Fears had 11 points while Joh-Teena Filipe had 11 points and 13 rebounds. Hayley Munro chipped in 10 points.
