Bulldogs Named FieldTurf Team of the Year

FRESNO, Calif. - No one can forget just how special of a season the Fresno State baseball team had in 2008. The team has been named the 2008 FieldTurf & Cal Ripken Jr. NCAA Baseball Team of the Year. Coach Mike Batesole also earned his third Coach of the Year accolade when Field Turf named him their Coach of the Year too.
"Being selected as the 2008 FieldTurf & Cal Ripken Jr. NCAA Baseball Team of the Year and winning their Coach of the Year award is perfect because this 2009 club truly was a team," said Batesole. "They were a team that exemplified what College Athletics is all about. They were fantastic on and off the field, as well as, in the classroom. We are still beaming with pride!"
The Bulldogs overcame six elimination games to win the program's first National Championship. The `Dogs became the lowest seeded team to advance to the College World Series and then the lowest seeded team to ever win the College World Series. They also earned the program's third consecutive WAC Championship.
