Doverspike Earns Player of the Week Honors

FRESNO, Calif. - Sophomore Grant Doverspike earned the Western Athletic Player of the Week and Golf World's "College Player of the Week" for the week of Feb. 11-17.
Doverspike, a native of Bakersfield, Calif. won the CSU San Marcos Invitational with an 8-under 208 (70-69-69). He won the event after playing through a sprained thumb. This is his second win of his collegiate career. His effort also helped Fresno State to the team title in the tournament.
This marks Doverspike's second WAC honor and his first for Golf World this season. Golf World's "College Players of the Week" section highlights a male and a female who have demonstrated outstanding individual play during a seven day period.
"Join the State - Fresno State!" - The Fresno State women's golf team opens the 2008 spring season at home as they host the Kitahara Fresno State Invitational at Copper River Country Club February 25 and 26. Admission is free to the public to watch.
