Bulldogs Battle San Diego State, Fall 5-2

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's tennis team traveled to southern California to battle the Aztecs. After coming off a seven home-game winning streak, the Bulldogs fell to San Diego State 5-2. The Bulldogs are now 8-3 overall for the season.
"San Diego State played a good match, " head coach Jay Udwadia said. "We need to work on a few things and improve for our next match against UNLV next week."
Junior Rudolf Siwy won his singles match at the No. 1 spot in two sets. He defeated Bartosz Golas, 7-6(1), 6-4. He improved to 16-7 overall and 9-2 in dual.
Sophomore Mirko Zapletal played a strong game at the No. 2 spot, beating Juan Gomez, 6-4, 6-2. Zapletal is now 13-5 overall and 9-2 in dual matches.
The Bulldogs will play this weekend in San Diego at the 117th Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Tournament Championships. This is an unusual tournament because it combines both independent and college teams in the same draw. Colleges competing in this year's tournament include UCLA, Stanford, Cal, Pepperdine, USC, San Diego State, UC San Diego,Texas A & M, Rice University, Claremont McKenna, Fresno State and Notre Dame.
