Baseball Hosts Santa Clara and USF

FRESNO, Calif.- - The Fresno State baseball team returns to Beiden Field for nonconference match ups with Santa Clara on Tuesday and San Francisco on Wednesday. Both games begin at 6 p.m. and they can be heard live on 580 KMJ.
Bulldog fans can buy a ticket and a hot dog and get one ticket and hot dog free for Tuesday's game against Santa Clara and Wednesday's game is buy one ticket, get one free.
The Bulldogs enter this week having won 11 of their last 14 games and they are currently 24-16 and boast a WAC best 13-3 record. Fresno State has swept their last two conference opponents in Louisiana Tech and New Mexico State. The Bulldogs have a 2.5 game lead over second place Sacramento State who is 10-5.
Santa Clara is 21-15 and plays a single game at home against Stanford today before playing the Bulldogs on Tuesday. This is the second meeting of the season between the Bulldogs and the Broncos. On March 4, Santa Clara edged Fresno State 6-5 in 10 innings in Santa Clara.
The Broncos are led by the play of Evan LeBlanc's .362 average with three homeruns and 24 RBIs. As a team Santa Clara is hitting .320 and their pitching staff has a team era of 5.21.
Wednesday will be the second meeting of the season between San Francisco and Fresno State. On March 18, the Dons defeated the Bulldogs 13-8 at USF. San Francisco hosts Sacramento State on Tuesday before traveling to Fresno.
The Dons top offensive hitter is Connor Bernatz. He is batting .371 with two homeruns and 23 RBIs in 124 at bats. The Dogs have team era of 4.80.
The Bulldogs enter this week on a tear offensively. In the last nine games they are hitting .360 as a team with Steve Susdorf and Steve Detwiler both hitting .500 and Gavin Hedstrom is hitting .474. The Dogs have also pounded out 15 homeruns and 89 RBIs during that stretch.
Detwiler was recently named the WAC Hitter of the Week where he hit .563 going 9-for-16 with two homeruns and 11 RBIs.
Following Wednesday's game with San Francisco, the Bulldogs will travel to Reno for a four-game WAC series with Nevada. Friday and Saturday's games can be heard live on 580 KMJ.
Saturday's doubleheader will also be seen live on CBS College Sports, formerly known as CSTV. Friday's game begins at 6 p.m. with Saturday's doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The final game on Sunday is at 1 p.m.
Fresno State took three of four from the Wolf Pack at the end of March. Nevada is 22-17 and 9-7 in conference.
