Baseball Travels to USF

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team travels to San Francisco, for a nonconference match up with the San Francisco Dons on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The series is tied 1-1 with the Dons winning 13-8 at USF and the Bulldogs winning last Wednesday, 5-4.
Fresno State is 26-20 while San Francisco is 25-19. In the last meeting between the two schools the Bulldogs scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to pick up the victory. Despite dropping three games at Nevada last weekend, the Bulldogs still hold a two-game lead over Nevada for first place in the WAC.
Alan Ahmady leads the Fresno State offensive attack with a .382 average. He has eight homeruns and 55 RBIs. Erik Wetzel is hitting .379 while Steve Susdorf is batting .351. Gavin Hedstrom is currently riding a 16-game hitting streak. Since April 9 he has improved his batting average from .246 to .323.
San Francisco is 25-19 and hitting .293 as a team. Connor Bernatz leads the Dons attack with a .370 average, two homeruns and 25 RBIs. Ryan Lipkin is batting .362 with Kyle Morgan is hitting .320 with four homeruns and a team-best 39 RBIs.
The Dons are coming off a season series where they took two of three games from the University of Portland.
Following Wednesday's game Fresno State returns to Beiden Field to host New Mexico State in a four-game series May 2-4 at Beiden Field. All four games can be heard live on 580 KMJ. The Bulldogs have already clinched a berth in this year's WAC tournament. Fresno State swept four games in Las Cruces two weeks ago.
Saturday's game against the Aggies is Youth Baseball Day. All youth baseball players eighth grade and under get in free to the game while there are special ticket packages for all fans for the game.
