FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State head coach Pat Hill once again has his paintbrush ready to "Paint the Valley Red".
Hill and the Bulldog Foundation's Quarterback Club will hold two events in Valley locations bringing Bulldog football to the fans. The Bulldog Foundation is looking to generate additional season ticket sales, and has the goal of growing the Quarterback Club to 10,000 members this summer. In addition the Quarterback Club is raising money to put artificial turf in Bulldog Stadium.
"Fresno State football has been an important part of Valley communities for many years," said Hill, who upon getting the head coaching job at Fresno State put a large green V on the Bulldog helmets to recognize the pride in the Valley. "The Quarterback Club and its members are the lifeblood of our program and have been for several years. We are looking for people to get more involved with Bulldog football. With over 50 national televised broadcasts this decade and another six this season, Bulldog football will bring the national spotlight once again to the Valley."
On May 31, The Bulldog Foundation's Quarterback Club will host a dinner at the DES Hall in Dos Palos. Tickets for the event are available for $50 and tables of 10 are available for $500. Proceeds benefit the Quarterback Club. Membership information and season tickets will be available for sale.
The following day, June 1, Hill and student-athletes will appear at the International Agro Center in Tulare for the South Valley Quarterback Club tailgate party. The Tailgate party is free and will be held from Noon to 3 p.m. There will be games for kids, including a 40-yard dash run, punting contest and agility tests. Concessions will be available for purchase. All concessions proceeds will be donated to Children's Hospital Central California. QBC Membership information and season tickets will be available for sale.
Heading into the 2008 season, Fresno State is again a preseason Top 25 program. The Bulldogs will host five home games this fall, starting on Sept. 13 when Big Ten powerhouse Wisconsin comes to Bulldog Stadium. The Badgers, ranked No. 12 in the preseason by Athlon's Magazine, will be the first team from the Big Ten to play in the Valley. Fresno State is coming off a 9-4 season ending on a great note with a victory over Georgia Tech in the Roady's Humanitarian Bowl.
From July 7-10, Hill, Bulldog players and department personnel will hold a Bulldog Football Caravan throughout several Valley cities and towns. More details on the Bulldog Football Caravan, including dates, times and locations will be announced at a later date.
