`Dogs Look for Second-Straight WAC Tournament Title

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - The No. 10/10 Fresno State softball team looks to defend its 2007 WAC Tournament title in Honolulu, Hawai'i this week. Finishing the conference at 14-3, the `Dogs earned the No.2 seed and a first round meeting with No. 5 seed New Mexico State at 7:30 p.m. PST on Wednesday.
Nevada earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament a first round bye. Other first round games on Wednesday are No. 6 seed San Jose State vs. No. 7 seed Utah State at 5:00 p.m. and No. 3 Hawai'i vs. No. 4 Louisiana Tech at 10:00 p.m.
The tournament is double elimination with the championship game being played at Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The winner of the WAC Tournament earns an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

This will be just the sixth year of the WAC Tournament. The Bulldogs have won it twice, in 1999 and in 2007. Hawai'i won it in 1991 and 1992 and Nevada won its first title in 2006.
