FRESNO, Calif. - In the midst of summer training for the Fresno State football team, junior Moses Harris headed to Hong Kong for two weeks to take two classes at Hong Kong Baptist University with 40 other Fresno State students.
These Business Finance majors are taking Marketing 124 and 127, integrated courses which will allow them to visit companies in China and have two guest professional speakers.
One might ask how would one Moses Harris hear about this program? Harris said that he spoke with his advisor and in order to reach his goal of getting his undergraduate degree in three-and-a-half years and then to get his master's degree in one-and-a-half he needed to take these two classes this summer and they were only available in Hong Kong. For someone whose first plane ride was to the Liberty Bowl in 2006 and who has never been out of the country, Harris said this opportunity was one he couldn't pass up.
Harris is missing some summer conditioning with the team but said head coach Pat Hill has been nothing but supportive and that school comes first. There is a training facility on the campus in Hong Kong in which Harris will continue to do the same workouts as he would if he were still in Fresno.
While in Hong Kong, Harris said he plans to do a lot of sightseeing and he is most looking forward to going to Disneyland. He also plans to visit several of the well known tourist attractions and doing some shopping for his family.
The food is also different in China as Harris plans on eating dishes that aren't so common in the United States.
Harris will return to Fresno State on July 28th and prepare for camp on August 4th as the team prepares for the 2008 season.
