FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State is home to one of the nations' premier tight ends.
Bear Pascoe, coming off an All-WAC season that saw him rack-up nearly 500 yards and four touchdowns, will again contend for All-America and John Mackey Award honors as a senior.
With his size and power, Pascoe blocks like an offensive lineman. He has athletic ability and hands to make difficult catches over the middle. He has the strength to break tackles and can go the distance in the open field as his 75-yard dash against Hawaii in 2006 will attest.
Pascoe is the epitome of a Bulldog football player, with great toughness, smarts and leadership skills. Pascoe averaged 13 yards per reception last season. He has blocked four kicks in his career.
"Bear is what Bulldog football is all about," said head coach Pat Hill. "He's a special player and a special person. Our tight end position is important to our offense because of the players there need to have what we call `position flexibility'. They are asked to do a lot of thing and lot of things the general public doesn't see or appreciate."

Pascoe is the leader of a quality of group tight ends including Isaac Kinter, who had 12 receptions last season, two for touchdowns. Walk-on Vince Pascoe, cousin of Bear, and senior Drew Lubinksy, who's only career catch was for a touchdown in the Roady's Humanitarian Bowl, also returns.
Redshirt freshman Ryan Skidmore had a solid spring and is an emerging a pass-catching threat.
"We have a good group of guys," said tight ends coach Jeff Grady, a former Bulldog quarterback. "When you have a leader like Bear Pascoe, he just makes everyone around him better. We are very fortunate to have some really talented guys."
True freshmen David Gory and Tapa Taumoepeau have impressed coaches with their athletic ability and work ethic thus far in camp and will be the future stars of the position.
The Bulldogs will hold their Football Kickoff Night scrimmage Sunday, August 10, at 7 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium. This will be the only scrimmage open to the public during training camp.
