FRESNO, Calif. - Sophomore Allison Ventura has found her place in the backline for Fresno State soccer. The Pleasanton, Calif. native is a part of the defense that shut out Eastern Kentucky and Florida International. Ventura took time to sit down with gobulldogs.com and answer some questions.
1) Nickname from the team?
Ventura: They call me by my last name, Ventura, or Ally, Al, it doesn't really matter.
2) What is your favorite Coach Springthorpe Quote?
Ventura: "Get on the line."
3) What is your favorite class at Fresno State?
Ventura: My Psychology class last year, it was really interesting.
4) Who is the hardest player you have ever played against?
Ventura: Brandi Chastain, I had to defend her last spring. She reads the game well and is a great player.
5) Do you have a pre-game ritual?
Ventura: I don't have an individual one, but I do wear a bow in my hair for every game. We also have a team prayer before each game. The team listens to music before the games too.
6) What is currently playing on your ipod?
Ventura: Everything from country to rap to rock. It depends on my mood.
7) You can't leave your apartment without...
Ventura: My cell phone.
8) What is the best thing about Fresno State soccer?
Ventura: The bond between the team and being like a family. Everyone is there for you and it's great to represent your school.
9) If you could invite three people to dinner who would you invite?
Ventura: Channing Tatum, Bill Gates, and Megan Fox.
10) What is your favorite food?
Ventura: Pasta or Mexican
11) When you aren't playing soccer you are...
Ventura: Usually with my friends. In the summer I am by the pool, but mostly around my friends or shopping.
12) What is something that most people don't know about you?
Ventura: I used to be a gymnast.
"Join the State, Fresno State!" - The Bulldogs hit the road for the University of Colorado Tournament September 19-21. The Bulldogs battle Denver on Friday, September 19 at 1:00 p.m. and Colorado on Sunday, September 21 at 12:00 p.m. The `Dogs return home on Friday, September 26 against Seattle University at 7:00 p.m. September is Youth Soccer Month. All youth soccer players 8th grade and under who wear their jerseys get in for free and their rest of the family is admitted for $2 per person.
