No. 41 Bulldogs Continue Non-Conference Rivalry with Mustangs

FRESNO, Calif. - After a strong fall season, the Bulldog men's tennis team will open its spring dual season with against Cal Poly on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
The match was originally scheduled for Sunday, but rain forced officials to move the date back to Wednesday.
Fresno State, the 2008 WAC runner-up, has climbed the rankings this year and is currently ranked 41st in the country.
The Bulldogs are led by defending WAC Player of the Year, Rudolf Siwy. The senior from the Czech Republic picked up where he left off last season and making a strong performance at the ITA All-American Championships this fall, where he qualified for the Round of 16.
Siwy is 9-3 on the season and ranked 32nd nationally. He will likely face Cal Poly's Andre Dome at the No. 1 spot.
Flavio Mollinedo and Rikus de Villiers provided some depth for the Bulldogs in singles action. Mollinedo went 8-3 in the fall and de Villiers, who transferred from Pepperdine, is 8-2 on the year.
Siwy will also partner with teammate Mirko Zapletal as the Bulldogs' top doubles team.
Cal Poly is 1-0 in dual matches this year after a 6-1 victory over Concordia.
Fresno State and Cal Poly have met 18 times since 1984, and the Bulldogs own a 14-4 edge in the series history. Fresno State has won 13-straight games against the Mustangs.
