Bulldogs Prepare For San Jose State

FRESNO, Calif. - After a three-game road trip, Fresno State returns to the Save Mart Center to host San Jose State on Friday, January 30, 2009 at 7 p.m. The game will be televised live on Comcast Channel 14. The Bulldogs then host Utah State on February 1, at 2 p.m.
Scouting the Spartans
San Jose State is 2-17 and led in scoring by Chasity Shavers 10.6 points a game. As a team, the Spartans are averaging 53.3 points a contest and shooting 36 percent from the field.
Bulldogs vs. San Jose State
Fresno State has won 13 straight against the Spartans and lead the overall series 44-17. Last year the Bulldogs defeated San Jose State 87-76 in the WAC tournament, 83-65 in San Jose and 81-63 in Fresno.
Winning Big
Fresno State's last eight wins have been by an average of 20.8 points a game. The last time the Bulldogs won a game by under 10 points was on December 4 when they beat No. 22 TCU 75-71.
Impressive in Ruston
Fresno State made a little history at Louisiana Tech as they handed Louisiana Tech its second worst home loss in program history. The worst loss was a 31-point win by LSU last year and in 2002-03 Tennessee defeated the Lady Techsters by 25. Last year Fresno State defeated Louisiana Tech by 19 points in Ruston. Louisiana Tech is 55-6 in WAC home games, with two of the losses coming against Fresno State.
Ross Climbing the School Record Books
Jaleesa Ross has hit 142 3-pointers on 350 attempts in her short career at Fresno State. The 142 three's puts her in fifth place on the Career 3-point Field Goals leaders. She needs six 3-pointers to pass Chantella Perera and move into fourth place. Her .406 3-point field goal percentage ranks her third on the career 3-point field goal percentage Top 10 list.
Love The Three Ball
Fresno State is scorching the nets from behind the arc once again. Last year the team hit a school record 262 3-pointers and attempted a school record 762 three's. Jaleesa Ross tied the single season 3-point record by hitting 89 last season. The Bulldogs are already 191-555 from the 3-point line and shooting 34.4 percent from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs hit 13 3-pointers in the season opener against Cal-State Bakersfield and against TCU. Dating back to last year the Bulldogs have 10 3-pointers or more in a game in 27 different games. After 19 games last year the Bulldogs were 141-418, good for 33.7 percent.
Double Digits
Since Adrian Wiggins has been head coach at Fresno State, the Bulldogs have recorded 61 wins by 10 points or more. Last year 19 of the 22 wins were by double digits.
