Fresno State Face Off Against Denver

FRESNO, Calif. - The 15th-ranked Fresno State women's tennis team gears up to take on No. 28 Denver Pioneers as part of the National Team Indoor qualifying round on Saturday at 8 a.m. PST in Nashville, Tenn.
Although the Bulldogs have competed in tournaments, the matchup with the Pioneers will be the first dual match of the season for Fresno State.
The Pioneers have a 1-1 dual record on the season, including a close 4-3 loss to No. 31 Texas A&M.
Both teams boast a strong set of upperclassmen. The Bulldogs have four seniors and two juniors leading the squad, conversely the Pioneers have three seniors and two juniors.
Depending on the result of the match on Saturday, Fresno State will face either Wake Forest or Vanderbilt on Sunday. If the Bulldogs win against Denver, they will face the winner of the other match at noon. If they lose, they will face the other team that wasn't able to secure a victory at 8 a.m. PST.
The two-day event is part of the 2009 ITA National Kick-Off Weekend and is a qualifying round for the National Team Indoor Championships that will be held in Madison, Wisc. from Feb. 12-15. Teams must win both matches to be invited to Madison, Wisc. for the tournament.
