Pola and Petukhova Invited to ITA All-American

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's Laura Pola and Anastasia Petukhova each received invites to participate in the prestigious ITA All-American Tournament, which runs from Oct. 3-11 in Los Angeles.
Pola, a sophomore from Ottawa, Canada, will compete in the prequalifying round of the tournament, when she squares off against Texas' Caroline Larsson on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.. Petukhova, a senior from Moscow, Russia, earned an automatic berth in the qualifying round, which begins on Tuesday.
Pola has the opportunity to advance to the qualifying round if she wins three matches. Eight prequalifiers will join Petukhova and the other players receiving automatic berths in the Round of 64, to vie for a place in the main draw of the ITA All-American Tournament.
Last season, Fresno State's Melanie Gloria and Petukhova competed in the singles main draw, while Rentata Kucerkova played in the prequalifier. The Bulldogs also had two doubles teams -- Gloria and Tinesta Rowe and Petukhova and Kucerkova -- in the main draw.
