Zapletal and Leiby Quarterfinal-Bound

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's Mirko Zapletal and Taylor Leiby punched their ticket to the doubles quarterfinals of the ITA Northwest Regional with an 8-5 victory of Cal's Sky Lovill and Zach Gilbert on Sunday in Berkeley, Calif.
"Mirko and Taylor have shown great chemistry and continue to play solid," Fresno State head coach Jay Udwadia said.
In singles action, junior Rikus de Villiers battled No. 76 Richard Wire of Stanford in the Round of 16, but the Cardinal came away with a 7-5, 6-7 (7), 7-5 win on Sunday.
"Rikus really competed well and came up just short," Udwadia said.
The Regional will continue on Monday and run through Tuesday.
