FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's Mirko Zapletal and Taylor Leiby put together an inspiring performance at the ITA Northwest Regional, but it fell just short in the championship match, as No. 8 Bradley Klahn and Ryan Thatcher of Stanford picked up an 8-3 win on Tuesday in Berkeley, Calif.
"Mirko and Taylor had a good run and lost to a tough Stanford team," Fresno State head coach Jay Udwadia said.
Leiby and Zapletal went 5-1 at the Regional and knocked off the 16th-ranked Anton Stryhas and Kiryl Harbatsiuk of Sacramento State. On the year, Leiby and Zapletal are 8-1 when paired together.
