Fresno State Near Perfect in Bulldog Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State couldn't have scripted the Bulldog Classic any better, as four Bulldogs advanced to the finals on Saturday at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center, to make it an all-Bulldog final in Flights A and B.
The 2008 Bulldog Classic champion Rikus de Villiers will defend his title against teammate Tejesvi Veerepalli.
De Villiers, a junior from Durban, South Africa, advanced to the finals by defeating San Francisco's Thai Tu, 7-6, 4-6, 6-2. Veerepalli reached the championship by beating teammate David Ayoun in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0.
In Flight B, Fresno State's Taylor Leiby still has yet to lose a match this year. The senior from Seal Beach, Calif., is 7-0 on the season after defeating Rainer Nachbauer of San Francisco and Mathieu Forget on Saturday to reach the finals.
Leiby will meet up with teammate Siddharth Alapati, who went to a third set to defeat Zach Gilbert of California, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, to advance to the finals.
In doubles action, de Villiers and partner Remi Boutillier will compete for the Flight A championship.
The championship match for singles Flights A, B and C will be played on Sunday at 10 a.m., while both doubles championships will be at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
