FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State senior Mirko Zapletal took one step closer to qualifying for the main draw of the ITA All-American by defeating No. 63 Bryant Salcedo of Vanderbilt in the qualifying round on Monday in Tulsa, Okla.
The Bulldog senior from Trebic, Czech Republic, won the final two sets to clinch the victory after dropping the first set.
Salcedo won the opening set, 5-7, but Zapletal took over from that point, winning the second set 6-0 and the third set 6-4.
"Mirko had a slow start, but played better as the match progressed," head coach Jay Udwadia said.
