FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team hosts New Mexico State and Louisiana Tech in its WAC home opener this weekend. "We are excited to be home this weekend from the tricky travel to Hawaii," said head coach Brian Zwaschka. "We know both matches this weekend will be very tough. We will be ready and are focused on playing to win. We've added yet another new goal-scorer to our ranks in Laura Dodd which shows we have more than one way to put the ball away. Several others showed up this past Sunday with the hunger to score but didn't get so lucky, but it's on everyone's mind now and I love to see the commitment to being dangerous pay off. We have the ability to score goals in a variety of ways, and I just can't wait to see who they come from next."
This is the first meeting between the two teams in soccer. This is the first year of the Aggie soccer program.
In its inagural season, New Mexico State is 7-5-1. They are currently leading the WAC with a 2-0 conference record.
The Aggies earned wins over Boise State and Idaho last weekend. Jazmin Cardoso leads the team in goals with four for eight points. Crystal Burns has three goals and two assists
"New Mexico State is off to a dream start as a first year program and I know they are very well coached in earning their record," said Zwaschka. "We will have to be prepared for any and all surprises they have in store for us." Fresno State is 4-0 against Louisiana Tech. Last year, the teams faced off in Ruston, La., and Fresno State came away with a 1-0 win in overtime.
Louisiana Tech is 11-2-1 this season and currently is eighth in WAC the standings with a conference record of 0-2. The Lady Techsters lost both conference matches last weekend against Idaho and Boise State.

"LA Tech has had a great season so far and two very close games in WAC play that they will surely feel were in their grasp, so I know they'll be coming here to prove themselves," said Zwaschka.
