ALBUQUERQUE -- - Today was an interesting day. We woke up to the bad news that Cincinnati Bengals wide reciever Chris Henry's death, which was a saddening story, especially since he was on the brink of turning his life around for the good. So that stuck on my mind all day and I thought a lot about how each of my teammates has affected my life. I am one to sit and think a lot about random things. I know my teammates are the guys that help me through a lot of tough days, and besides my family, they are the most special people in my life.
On to today's daily news at the New Mexico Bowl. Another early morning wake up for practice at New Mexico's very thin-aried indoor complex. Practice was short, which all Thursday practices are. But today was a special Thursday practice becasue it was the head honcho's (Coach Hill) birthday. We did our usual brithday celebration, circling the victim and pouncing on him like a lion would do to a gazzelle (hopefully Coach Baxter reads this). In the back of my mind, I thought, "I'm not sure if Coach Hill can take 100 college football players pushing him around in a circle and giving him birthday blows to his arms and stomach. Coach Hill may get hurt, considering it's he turns 93 today." But we had a good time singing Coach Hill happy birthday for his 58th birthday.
After practice we came back to the hotel and some players had to finish their semester finals. When I walked in the hotel, I saw Anthony Harding scratching his head, trying to do some last minute strudying for his final (it didn't look like the information was sticking very well). I know Zak Hill had a pretty tough final today, as he is a Biology major and insists on finding a new cure for the common cold (haha). After making fun of people for still having to take finals, since I finished and graduated on Tuesday, I went upstairs to watch movies with Joe Bernardi and Richard Pacheco. Those guys make me laugh all the time, so I figured I could get some fun time in with them.
Then after our three hour break, we went into unit meetings, where I sat with the offensive line and the tight ends. Later we got to go to our event for the night. Even though the bus ride was close to an hour, we got to the convention center and we played "Survey Says," which is exactly like Family Feud, after dinner.
We lost the game, but get this, we won three out of four rounds, but lost the final round, so they gave the trophy to Wyoming. I was upset at some of the answers my teammates chose. Seyi Ajirotutu guessed "food poisoning" as a top disease for college students before anyone said the flu and a cold. Coach Micah Alba answered "toothpick" before toothbrush for the top things that college students put in their mouths. And the grand daddy ridiculous answer of the night went to our offensive coordinator, Jeff Grady, for the question, "What is the number one thing college students put in their mouths?" His answer was "liquid." What type of answer is that?!

All in all, today was another eventful, humorous and eye-opening day for my teammates and me. Tomorrow is another early wake up and another full day. I'm really looking forward to Saturday's game, hope you are too.
