Bulldogs Host Louisiana Tech

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's basketball team plays host to Louisiana Tech on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Save Mart Center. The game can be heard live on 790 ESPN Radio. Fresno State remains in first place in the WAC by a half-a-game over Louisiana Tech.
Scouting the Lady Techsters
Louisiana Tech is 17-11 and in second place in the WAC at 10-4. Shanavia Dowdell and Adrienne Johnson lead the scoring by averaging 15.2 points a game. Whitney Jones is netting 13.2 points a contest. As a team, the Lady Techsters are scoring 67.6 points a game and shooting 41 percent from the field.
Bulldogs vs. Louisiana Tech
Louisiana Tech leads the overall series 6-13 but the Bulldogs have won the last five meetings, including a 78-53 win in Ruston earlier in the year. The last time Louisiana Tech won in Fresno was Jan. 8, 2005, where the Lady Techsters pulled out an 80-70 victory.
Winning Big
Fresno State's last 13 wins have been by an average of 21.8 points a game. The Bulldogs three wins by under 10 points were against No. 22 TCU (75-71), Utah State (68-59). and Nevada (63-60). The Bulldogs are beating teams by an average margin of 9.8 points a game on the season.
February Frenzy
The month of February has been a successful month for the Bulldogs under coach Adrian Wiggins as his team is 24-7 in the month, good for a .774 winning percentage.
Hard Work Pays Off
Fresno State walkon Kaitlin Kaufmann has been practicing with the team since January. After working hard in practice, coach Adrian Wiggins will dress her for the Bulldogs final three home games. Kaufmann is a 5-8 junior from Sanger, Calif., who played junior college basketball at Reedley. She graduated from Clovis East High School in 2006. She played her first minutes in Friday's win over Nevada.
Love The Three Ball/Bulldogs Lead Nation in 3-pointers Made
Fresno State is scorching the nets from behind the arc once again. Last year the team hit a school record 262 3-pointers and attempted a school record 762 three's. Jaleesa Ross tied the single season 3-point record by hitting 89 last season. The Bulldogs are already 248-713 from the 3-point line and shooting 34.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs are making 9.5 3-pointers a game and the mark is the best in the country. Through 27 games last year the Bulldogs were 219-628, good for a .349 percentage.
The Bulldogs hit 13 3-pointers in the season opener against Cal-State Bakersfield and against TCU. Dating back to last year the Bulldogs have 10 3-pointers or more in a game in 29 different games.
Hot Start
Fresno State's 19-7 start is the programs second best start in school history through 26 games. The 2005-06, 1986-87 and hte 1985-86 teams were all 20-6 through 26 games. The best record through 27 games is 21-6 by the 2005-06 and the 1985-86 teams. The 1986-87 and the 1984-85 teams were 20-7.
