FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State wrapped up their trip to Las Vegas, Nev., with a 5-2 win over UNLV Saturday.
The Bulldogs got off to a strong start by winning the doubles point. Rikus de Villiers and Remi Boutillier have won eight of their last 10 matches. The duo remained hot on Saturday with an 8-2 win over Wesley Burrows and Bryan Miller. Taylor Leiby and Tejesvi Veerepali also downed their Rebel opponents, 8-5, on the third court.
In singles action, Fresno State won four of the six matches, all in two-set matches.
Senior Rudolf Siwy overcame a close first set and rolled in the second in a 7-6, 6-1 victory. De Villiers was clutch in singles action, prevailing over Luca Barlocchi in two close sets in his 7-6, 7-5 win.
"UNLV is a good tennis program," said head coach Jay Udwadia. "We had to pull through some very close matches today to win the dual. I'm very happy with the way the team competed."
The Bulldogs will have 10 days off before welcoming Indiana to the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center on March 17.
