Fresno State Tames Wolf Pack

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 46 Fresno State remained atop the WAC Standings with a 6-1 victory over No. 66 Nevada on Friday in Boise, Idaho.
The Bulldogs stormed out of the gate by winning two of three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.
The 37th-ranked combo of Rudolf Siwy and Mirko Zapletal knocked off Nevada's top tandem of Wessim Derbel and Alex Daruty, 8-6. Taylor Leiby and Tejesvi Veerepalli picked up an 8-4 win over Benjamin David and Gabe Kanzelmeyer.
In singles action, No. 59 Siwy made short order of Derbel, 6-2, 6-1. Siddharth Alapati also won in straight sets in his 6-0, 6-4 victory over Kanzelmeyer.
Three of the Bulldogs went to a third set to come away with a win. Rikus de Villiers defeated Daruty, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, Remi Boutillier beat David, 6-7, 6-0, 7-6, and Veerepalli took care of Augustin Myard, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
The win pushed the Bulldogs record to 15-7 overall and 4-0 in the WAC.
Fresno State will have a doubleheader tomorrow in Boise, Idaho, against New Mexico State at 1:30 p.m. PT and Boise State at 5 p.m. PT. After that, the Bulldogs are off to Honolulu, Hawai'i for the WAC Tournament from April 24-26.
