'Dogs Head to Brutus Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. - This weekend Fresno State travels to the Brutus Invitational running Friday through Saturday at Edwards Stadium in Berkeley Calif. Other than the Bulldogs, programs slated to appear are: Portland State, UNLV, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, Sacramento State, UC Davis, San Francisco University and California.
Sophomore Tiera Hilliard kicks off the invitational for the Bulldogs at 4 p.m. Friday, by way of the 400-meter hurdles. This will be the last invitational of the year for Fresno State, as they hope to use it to build momentum heading into the conference championships.
Last year's top Brutus Hamilton performers for Fresno State include Frank Sanders, Erik Garcia and Sharon Ayala. In his signature event, the 1,500, Sanders earned gold with a time of 3:47.88. Garcia led the distance runners by winning the 5,000 at 14:57.52 and Ayala took gold among collegiate competitors in the hammer throw event with a toss of 195-8 (59.63m).
