FRESNO, Calif. - The Western Athletic Conference named Fresno State's Val-Pierre Dai'Re the WAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week for April 20-26.
Dai'Re, a junior from Merced, Calif. (Buhach Colony HS), had a career day, setting a personal-best time of 51.00 in the 400m hurdles. He easily met the NCAA Regional qualifying standard as his time was good for second-best in the WAC.
He also took second, timing a season-best 14.31 in the 110m hurdles, just .01 seconds off the NCAA Regional qualifying standard.
This is the first time this year the junior has been honored with the WAC weekly award. Dai'Re's award is the sixth for the Bulldogs this season.
Louisiana Tech's Larry Jones was named WAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
