FRESNO, CALIF. - The USTFCCCA released the fourth rankings of the season on Wednesday. Bulldogs Sharon Ayala, Val-Pierre Dai'Re, and Latrisha Jordan all earned rankings in their signature events.
The USTFCCCA includes athlete's best marks from the previous year for the first three weeks of the season. After these initial three weeks, athletes must use marks from this season. The removal of 2008's marks moved Ayala, Dai'Re and Jordan up through the rankings.
For the first time in her collegiate career Ayala snagged the No. 2 ranking in the hammer event. She earned the ranking with a heave of 216 feet (65.84m) on April 18, 2009. Ayala only trails defending NCAA Champion Eva Urban of USC.
Jordan's mark of 58.49 tied her with Erica Moore of Indiana State for No. 13 in the 400-meter hurdles. The mark betters her previous Fresno State record for the third time and slots her as one of two freshmen in the Top 20.
Dai'Re hurdled his way into the rankings with a time of 51.00, on April 18, 2009. The time tied him with Ray Varner of Iowa for No. 18 in the 400 hurdles and earned him WAC Track Athlete of the Week honors.
