Ten Earn Academic All-WAC Honors

FRESNO, Calif. - Ten Bulldogs earned Academic All-WAC honors Thursday for the indoor season as the Western Athletic Conference announced its winter sports honorees.
A total of 90 women earned as indoor track and field honorees. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed one academic year, have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 40 percent of the teams' contests.
Annie Bledsoe, Erica Embry, Laurie Loeffler, Cara Montes, Janev Morris, Kamilah Parker, Vanessa Sautebin, Roxanne Sellick, Nancy Vizcarra and Grace Wiesmann represent the Bulldogs on the conference's academic awards list.
This is the first year the conference recognized indoor track and field separately from outdoor for academic honors.
"The number one responsibility on this team is academics," said head coach Scott Winsor. "And these ten student-athletes are proof of just that. I am very proud of the work these students have put in to earn academic honors from the conference."
Wiesmann, a senior, has earned four Academic All-WAC honors, receiving honors in 2006, 2007, 2008 and now for the 2008-09 indoor season.
Sellick, also a senior, earned Academic All-WAC honors in both 2006 and 2008 prior to earning the 2008-09 indoor recognition.
Embry (senior), Montes (sophomore), Morris (sophomore) and Vizcarra (senior) were all second-time honorees.
All ten of the recipients can potentially add another Academic All-WAC honor for the 2009 outdoor season.
"Hopefully we will continue to increase those numbers in the outdoor season," said Winsor.
