FRESNO, Calif. - NCAA Singles Tournament Bracket
After patiently waiting as the No. 1 alternate for the NCAA Singles Tournament, Fresno State's 59th-ranked senior Rudolf Siwy received word he will face No. 27 Michael Shabaz of Virginia in the opening round of the tournament on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. PT in College Station, Texas.
Siwy is 24-12 on the year and is ranked No. 13 on Fresno State's career wins list with 79. This will be his first appearance in the NCAA Singles Tournament in his career, and will be the first Bulldog in the tournament since Jakub Cech in 2006.
Although this is the first time in his career he's faced Shabaz, Virginia's No. 3 player, Siwy recorded a victory over the Cavalier's No. 2 player, Sanam Singh, at the Main Draw of the ITA All-American on Oct. 9, 2008.
