Dogs Host Football Fiesta Night

FRESNO, Calif. - Football fans can join in an exciting celebration with the inaugural Bulldog Football Fiesta¬¬ Night for Fresno State's home opening game against UC Davis on Sept. 5.
This event will showcase the strong Hispanic culture and heritage in the Valley, and leads into the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. This event is expected to be one of the largest Hispanic Cultural Events ever on the Fresno State campus.
Fresno State is offering special group ticket packages and "Family Plans" for the game. Growing current partnerships with Spanish Language media agencies and strong Hispanic owned businesses will provide excellent game day experiences for all fans. The Bulldogs are expanding their relations with television partner Univision and radio partner Lotus Communications to promote the event. Lotus operates radio stations La Buena 101.9 FM and ESPN Deportes 1600 AM, the Spanish home of the Bulldogs.
"We at La Buena 101.9 FM and ESPN Deportes 1600 AM are thrilled to be the radio station partners for Bulldog Football Fiesta Night on September 5," said Lotus General Manager Kevin O'Rorke. "We look forward to both promoting and assisting in the execution of this great celebration of both Bulldog Football and the rich Hispanic culture of our valley. Go Dogs!"
A Hispanic band will play during Bulldog Boulevard from 3-4 p.m. on game day and the Bulldog Marching Band will play a tribute at halftime of the game.
The Fresno State Athletics Department will work with several community and campus agencies including the Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce groups and Fresno State's Chicano Alumni others to provide even greater awareness and appreciation of the Hispanic culture during the event.
"The Valley and its growth owe a lot to the Hispanic people who have made it their home," said head coach Pat Hill. "We are proud to bring attention to the many accomplishments of the great leaders of the Hispanic community. We are grateful to our many Hispanic fans and look forward to a great game and an even better celebration on Sept. 5."
During the game, video messages and public address promotional announcements will be in both English and Spanish.
The Fresno State Athletics Department will promote the Football Fiesta Night throughout the summer heading into the season opener of the 2009 season.
