Dogs Get More TV Time

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State picked up a couple more national television appearances as the Big Ten announced the Dog's game against Wisconsin and Illinois are being slated for broadcast on ESPN and The Big Ten Network, respectively.
The Sept. 12 Fresno State at Wisconsin football game will be on ESPN or ESPN2 (TBD after games of 9/5), and will be played at 9 a.m. PDT. The Fresno State vs. Wisconsin match-up is one of three games in the ESPN Family this season.
The Dogs are excited to get one of the premier national television windows available through the Big Ten television package. Other non-conference match-ups on Big 10 campuses that weekend include: Notre Dame at Michigan, Syracuse at Penn State, Air Force at Minnesota, Central Michigan at Michigan State and USC at Ohio State.
Fresno State owns a record of 1-1 against Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium, where the Badgers have won 20 of their last 21 non-conference games dating back to the 2001 season, when Fresno State won 32-20. Camp Randall, built in 1917, is the fourth-oldest on-campus football stadium in America.
The Dec. 5 Fresno State at Illinois football game will be on Big Ten Network at 9:30 a.m. PST. It will be Fresno State's first-ever appearance on the Big Ten Network. Fresno State has never played Illinois.
Each year, the Big Ten Network offers approximately 35 football games, 105 regular season men's basketball games; 55 women's basketball games; dozens of Big Ten Championship events; Big Ten Tonight, a nightly studio show; coaches' shows; and classic games. Available to all cable and satellite providers nationwide, the network currently has agreements with more than 250 affiliates, including AT&T U-Verse, Charter, Comcast, Cox, DirecTV, DISH Network, Insight, Mediacom, Time Warner Cable and Verizon FiOS.
"It's great getting two more national games," said head coach Pat Hill. "There's no doubt that both of these games will have big implications on a national level and certainly for the Fresno State program."
In all the Dogs have made 60 national television appearances this decade heading into the 2009 season, 46 of those were on the ESPN networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, ESPNU). Fresno State's home game vs. Boise State on Sept. 18 will be on ESPN2, and other games may still be added to the national broadcast schedule.
