Tweedie-Yates Joins Bulldog Staff for 2009-10

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State announced former NCAA All-American and WTA professional Story Tweedie-Yates will serve as the women's tennis assistant coach for the 2009-10 season.
During Tweedie-Yates' college career, she earned All-American honors in singles and doubles during her senior year at Texas Christian in 2004-05. She finished the season ranked No. 11 in the final ITA Tennis Singles Rankings and led her squad to the Conference-USA championship match. The Horned Frogs earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament that year and advanced to the second round. She was also the Conference-USA Player of the Year and earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI honors.
She spent her previous three collegiate seasons at Stanford, where she was a part of the 2001-02 and 2003-04 NCAA Championship teams.
Professionally Tweedie-Yates played four years on the WTA tour with 143 singles and 159 doubles matches in her career. She reached a career high singles ranking of 316 on Jan. 15, 2007, and 189 in doubles on May 25, 2009 and competed as recently as August of 2009.
Tweedie-Yates provided private instruction to elite junior players in a Seattle-based club. She also served as a student assistant for both the men's and women's tennis teams at Texas Christian during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.
The Bulldogs are the defending eight-time WAC Champions and made their fourth-straight trip to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2008-09.
