FRESNO, Calif. - Having a Top 10 football team play at Bulldog Stadium doesn't happen very often. Since 1921 only two Top 10 teams have played in Fresno, and those two teams have been during the Pat Hill era, when No, 10 Oregon State played in Fresno in 2001 and No. 10 Wisconsin visited in 2008.
Friday will mark the third time, when No. 10 Boise State visits Bulldog Stadium in the WAC opener. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. and tickets are still available for the biggest home game of the season. There is a limited number of $35 tickets still available for the game. Fans can log onto gobulldogs.com or call (559) 278-DOGS for more ticket information.
Friday is "Wear White Night" and all fans are being asked to wear white to the game. The official game day shirt can be purchased at the Bulldog Shop for $12.
"We are looking forward to Friday night in Fresno," Bulldog coach Pat Hill said. "I hope our fans show up and wear white. It will be great. We need the hometown crowd. They can make a big difference in this football game. Boise State is a legitimate Top 10 football team. If we are playing well and our crowd is into it, we have a great advantage."
In the previous two games against Top 10 teams the Bulldogs trounced Oregon State 44-24 in front of an electric and sold out crowd of 42,410. Against Wisconsin last year, the Bulldogs lost a close 13-10 game in front of another electrifying atmosphere of 42,387 fans.
This Friday should be no different as Hill hopes the fans give his team a big boost.
"If our fans will come up big, it will make a big difference in this football game," Hill said. "Our fans can really make a big difference. It is up to us to fuel that emotion. The gasoline will be spread. We just have to light the match."
This is Boise State's first road game of the season and it should also be one of the toughest road games of the year for the Broncos. The Broncos other road games are against Bowling Green, Tulsa, Hawai'i, Utah State and Louisiana Tech.
"Boise won't play in a road environment like ours all season," Hill said.
