FRESNO, Calif. - The Western Athletic Conference announced the 2009-10 Academic All-WAC honorees for the five fall sports. Among the 312 WAC athletes honored 10 of them were Bulldog soccer players.
Last year, the Bulldogs had seven soccer student-athletes earn academic honors. The 10, this year is the most student-athletes the soccer team has produced on the Academic All-WAC team since the 2005 season when 13 players were honored for their achievements in the classroom.
"With the time demands put on our student-athletes these awards are a testament to the character of these young ladies off the field," said head coach Brian Zwaschka. "I am very proud of our team academic achievements and especially so for these individuals. They deserve this recognition for their excellence in the classroom."
Utah State soccer led the way with 11 student-athletes followed by Fresno State and San Jose State with 10 student-athletes.
In all, 43 Bulldogs were honored from men's and women's cross country, football, soccer and volleyball.
