`Dogs Hit the Road

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team hits the road for its first Western Athletic Conference road trip. The Bulldogs head to New Mexico State on Oct. 15 and Louisiana Tech on Oct. 17. The `Dogs are 4-2-1 on the road this year and all four wins have come on the road.
Against New Mexico State
Friday marks the second meeting between the Bulldogs and Aggies. Last year, the first year program at New Mexico State beat the `Dogs 2-0 in Bulldog Stadium. The Aggies have the 1-0 edge in the new series.
About the Aggies
New Mexico State has an overall record of 6-6-2 and WAC record of 0-4 this season. Crystal Burns leads the team in points with 19. She has six goals and seven assists. Goalkeeper Mikaela Bitner has 67 saves, two shutouts and 1.25 goals against average on the year.
Against Louisiana Tech
The series between Fresno State and Louisiana Tech dates back to 2005 when the school's met for the first time in Fresno, Calif. The Bulldogs won the first meeting 3-0. Fresno State is 5-0 against the Lady Techsters. The largest margin of victory was in 2007 when the `Dogs won 4-0 at home.
About the Lady Techsters
The Lady Techsters head into the weekend with an overall record of 12-4-0 and WAC record of 2-2-0. Rachel King leads the team in goals with 12 and has an assist for 25 points on the season. Kiva Greshman leads the team in assists with eight and also has seven goals for a total of 22 points. Goalkeeper Caitlin Updyke has 45 saves, five shutouts and goals against average of .75.
Bulldog Reunion in Las Cruces
Former Fresno State soccer player Courtney Sobrero (2003-06) will reunite with the Bulldogs this weekend. Sobrero is on the New Mexico State coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach. She is working on her Master's degree while helping coach the Aggies. Sobrero was a three-time first team All-WAC selection. Sobrero left her name in the Bulldog record books and she holds the single-season shots on goal record with 32 in 2005. She ranks second in career shots (248) and third in hat tricks (2) while she is also in the top 10 for career points (60), career goals (25) and career assists (10).
"We Are Your Team" The Bulldogs continue WAC play on the road next week. The `Dogs head to New Mexico State on Oct. 15 and Louisiana Tech on Oct. 17. Fresno State returns to Bulldog Stadium on Oct. 22 and plays Utah State.
