Soccer Hosts Utah State and Nevada

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team concludes the 2010 home schedule this weekend against Utah State and Nevada. The Aggies come to town on Friday, Oct. 22. The `Dogs celebrate senior day on Sunday, Oct. 24 against the Wolf Pack. Fresno State will honor 10 seniors who conclude their careers at the end of this season.
Against Utah State
Friday marks the seventh meeting between Fresno State and Utah State. The Bulldogs lead the overall series 4-2-2. The `Dogs haven't lost to the Aggies in Bulldog Stadium.
About the Aggies
Utah State comes to Bulldog Stadium with a 4-0-1 league record and in first place in the WAC standings. Lauren Hansen leads the team with nine goals and 21 points. She also has three assists this season and leads the team with 60 shots. Goalkeeper Molli Merrill has 46 saves and six shutouts.
Against Nevada
Fresno State and Nevada meet for the 14th time in school history Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs lead the series against the Wolf Pack 11-1-1. The `Dogs have a perfect 4-0 record against Nevada in Bulldog Stadium and head into the weekend with a five-game winning streak in the series.
About the Wolf Pack
Nevada heads into the weekend with an overall record of 6-8-2 and WAC mark of 1-4-0. The Wolf Pack is eighth in the WAC standings. Erin Smith and Natalie Ratnavira lead the team with four goals each. Cristen Drummond leads the team in points (three goals and three assists) with nine total on the year. Goalkeeper Marie Cove has 67 saves and four shutouts this year.
`Dogs Goooooooal!
The Bulldogs have scored 14 goals in 15 games this season. Senior Nicole Duff leads the goal count with four goals. Other Bulldogs with goals are Laura Dodd, Molly Nizzoli, Claudia Cardenas, Vanessa Gonzalez and Janna Sadowitz. The `Dogs scored a game-high three goals against Florida Atlantic University on Sept. 5. The record for most goals scored in a match is eight set in 2000 against Weber State. The most goals scored in a season is 39, which was also set in 2000. Former Bulldog Jill Pearson holds the record for most goals scored in a career (40), in a season (15) and in a game (4).
Setting Up the Goal
Fresno State has recorded 18 assists in 10 games. Leading the way is Nicole Duff and Claudia Cardenas with three. Also contributing assists in 2010 is Laura Dodd, Lauren Lindstrom, Kendall VanDine, Molly Nizzoli, Bradlee DeShane, Janna Sadowitz, Bianca Lopez, Katie Lee and Tara Boynton. Former Bulldog midfielder Ali Sill owns several assist records. Sill holds the record for career assists (23), single game assists (2) and single season assists (9). As a team the most assists recorded in a season is 34, which was set in 2007. The single game record is eight assists, which was done in 2003 against San Jose State.
Duff No. 1 in Points
Senior Nicole Duff is leading the way offensively for the Bulldogs in 2010. She leads the team in points with 11 on the year. The forward has recorded a team-high four goals and three assists. Duff has recorded a single game-high of three points twice this season.
