About Nevada
The Wolf Pack is nationally ranked for the first time since 1948 and comes to Bulldog Stadium No. 21 in the USA Today Coaches Poll with an 8-1 record. Nevada has one of the nation's most dangerous offenses with two of the top weapons in America, quarterback Colin Kaepernick and running back Vai Taua. They have combined to score 26 touchdowns and over 200 rushing yards per game. Nevada ranks fourth in the NCAA in scoring (44.2 ppg), second in rushing yards (317.8 ypg) and second in total offense (556.1 ypg). Dontay Moch is a terrific defensive player who has 16 tackles for losses this season, with five quarterback sacks.
Against Nevada
Fresno State owns a commanding 24-15-1 lead in the all-time series between the two schools. The teams first met in 1923 and Nevada earned six of its 15 wins over the first eight years. Under Pat Hill, the Dogs are 8-4 against Nevada and the teams have split the last four games. The Bulldogs have won 14 of the 20 games played in Fresno.
Rouse Wins National Honor After Record-Breaking Performance
Sophomore Robbie Rouse rushed for 286 on 43 carries, both career highs. It was the second-most by a Bulldog to Dwayne Wright's 295 yards also at La Tech in 2006. Rouse had a 60-yard run early in the third quarter, the longest of his career and had a 51-yard touchdown late in the game. His previous long rush was 46 yards against Boise State on Sept 18, 2009. Rouse also posted his third consecutive 100-yard rushing game Ryan Mathews was the last Bulldog to get 200 yards rushing in a game. He did it last year at San Jose State. The 43 carries set a new Fresno State record, previously owned by former NFL back Michael Pittman, who had 39 vs. Oregon in 1996. His 286 yards were the most by a back over the weekend and the second-highest total of an NCAA back this season. Nebraska's Roy Helu, Jr., had 307 yards against Missouri. Rouse's 43 carries are six more than any other back in the nation this season. Junior receiver Jamel Hamler was an honorable mention selection for national receiver of the week after he had the best night of his career with eight receptions for 118 yards and three touchdowns (6, 10, 33 yards).
