FRESNO, Calif. - Meagan McKee has signed a National Letter of Intent and will compete for Fresno State's women's track and field team starting with the 2011 season. McKee will join the `Dogs this fall as a freshman out Santa Theresa High school in San Jose, Calif.
"Megan's strength levels and technical knowledge coming in is equivalent to that of a junior on the collegiate level," said throws coach Lisa Misipeka. "She has a great strength-training background and is such a hard worker, as is proven by her accomplishments. Adding her to the group of throwers that we already have will make us almost unstoppable in that area."
McKee boasts an impressive list of high school accomplishments. She has won multiple championships and recognitions including earning three-time BVAL League MVP honors and three-time consecutive BVAL League Championships in the shot put event ranging from 2007- 2009. She has also won back to back league championships in the discus throw in 2008 and 2009. McKee added to her impressive resume the CIF Central Coast Section shot put championship in 2009.
Her personal bests include a 44 meters and 5 inches in the outdoor shot put, 42-2.75 in the indoor shot put, 141-5 in the discus throw and a 44-11 in the weight throw.
Mckee has made the Honor Roll for the past three years straight proving that she has what it takes to be a top notch student-athlete for Fresno State.
"She is also an academic honor student, so she is going to bring academic honors, as well as athletic honors to Fresno State," said Misipeka. "I am very excited to have Meagan join the Fresno State track and field team."
