The Bulldogs clinched at least a share of the WAC regular season championship once again with Saturday's 69-58 victory over Nevada at the Save Mart Center. One more Bulldog win gives the Dogs the title out right.
Ross One of Top Scorers in Bulldog History
Jaleesa Ross has scored 1,361 points in her career at Fresno State and is currently in 5th place on the Fresno State all-time scoring list. Ross needs 155 points to pass Shannon McGee's (1984-87) 1,515 points and move into fourth place. She needs 417 points to become the program's all-time leading scorer.
Ross 2 3-Pointers Away From School Record
Jaleesa Ross has hit 271 3-pointers in her two plus seasons as a Bulldog and she is currently in second place on the schools career list for 3-pointers made. She needs two 3-pointers to pass Lindsay Logan and move into first place. Her 95 3-pointers made last season is a new Fresno State single season record, breaking the previous mark of 89, set by Ross last year and Lindsay Logan in 2000-01. The 95 3-pointers ranks Ross fifth on the single season Top 10 list in the WAC for most 3-pointers made in a year.
School Record for Wins
Fresno State's 24-9 record in 2008-09 tied the school record for most wins in school history. The 2005-06 team finished 24-8. Since Adrian Wiggins has been the head coach he has had the three winningest seasons in school history. He won 22 games in 2007-08, tying the mark for the second most wins in program history.
Where's Wayne
Since losing to Idaho last year in Moscow, the Fresno State women's basketball team has put performer Wayne Newton on the pass list for all conference road games. It has been 10 straight games and he has yet to show up. This tradition originally started when the Bulldogs played at UNLV last season and the team decided to put his name on the list. Along with Wayne Newton a famous person from that state or city usually ends up on the pass list. Here is a look at who has been on the pass list so far. Idaho: Wayne Newton, New Mexico State: Julia Roberts and Wayne Newton. Nevada: Wayne Newton. San Jose State Wayne Newton, Hawai'i: President Barack Obama, Dwayne "Dog" Chapman and Wayne Newton. Utah State: Wayne Newton, Robert Redford, Donny Osmond, Marie Osmond and Thomas S. Monson.
"We Are Your Team"- The Fresno State women's basketball team returns to the Save Mart Center on March 3 for Senior Night. The Bulldogs host San Jose State at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased by logging onto the tickets link at the top of the page.
