Bulldogs Finish Tournament 3-1

SAN DIEGO - The Fresno State baseball team finished the Aztec Invitational with a record of 3-1 after losing the final game, 10-7, against University of San Diego. The 'Dogs were named Tri-CHampions of the tournament along with Cal State Fullerton and San Diego. Matt Morse, Jordan Ribera and Bobby Coyle were named to the All-Tournament team.
The Bulldogs scored seven run on 10 hits against the Toreros and rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning. The `Dogs are 9-7 on the season.
Junior Bobby Coyle hit his second home run of the season, while freshman Clay Cederquist hit his first career triple to drive in two runs.
The Bulldogs first two hits of the day were doubles from first baseman Jordan Ribera, who doubled down the right field line, in the second inning and shortstop Isacc Vivas, who hit a stand up double down the left field line in the third inning.
University of San Diego took a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
In the fifth inning, catcher Trent Garrison walked. Vivas hit his second double off the left field wall bringing home Garrison cutting the lead, 6-1.
Third baseman Garrett Weber led off the sixth inning with a single to shallow right field. Coyle hit a two-run over the center field wall and the `Dogs trail, 6-3.
Sophomore Dusty Robinson walked to continue the inning. Ribera struck out swinging and Robinson advanced to second base. Designated hitter Kenny Wise walked. Garrison hit an RBI single to left field cutting the Toreros lead, 6-4.
The Toreros added four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning increasing their lead, 10-4.
In the top of the ninth inning, pinch hitter Kaohu Gaspar reached base on an error. Junior Danny Muno singled to right field and reached second base on an error. Gaspar advanced to third base on the play. Cederquist tripled to center field recording two RBIs. The Bulldogs trail, 10-6.
Coyle grounded out allowing Cederquist to score and the Bulldogs trail, 10-7.
Fresno State lost the final game of the Aztec Invitational, 10-7, to University of San Diego.
