FRESNO, Calif. - The Western Athletic Conference recognized Fresno State senior Mirko Zapletal as WAC Player of the Week on Tuesday for his victories in singles and doubles against New Mexico.
Zapletal helped the Bulldogs defeat defending Mountain West Conference Champion New Mexico, 6-1, on Sunday, to make it three-straight victories over the MWC for Fresno State.
In singles action, Zapletal picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win over the Lobos' Ben Dunbar at the No. 1 position. In doubles, Zapletal teamed with senior Taylor Leiby to defeat New Mexico's Carl Ho and Joe Wood, 8-5.
This week the Bulldogs will compete against 16 of the top teams in college tennis at the prestigious Blue-Gray Classic on March 18-21 in Montgomery, Ala.
