'Dogs Add Depth to Hurdle Crew

FRESNO,Calif. - Erin Morris has signed a National Letter of Intent and will compete for the Fresno State women's track and field team starting in the 2011 season. Morris will join the `Dogs this fall as a freshman out of Fossil Ridge High School in Keller, Texas.
"Erin will be a major contributor to what will be a very solid hurdle crew for our team next year," said assistant track and field coach Chris Baptista. "She has competed at the national level indoors and understands what type of training commitment it takes to develop at the next level. We are really excited to have Erin joining our program and look forward to seeing her develop over the next four years."
Morris has established herself as a threat in the hurdles where she boasts an impressive list of high school accomplishments including 2009 district champion in the 100-meter hurdles. Along with her championship, Morris owns a school record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.05.
Some of her other accomplishments include a pair of third place finishes at the Texas Relays and the 5A Texas High School Regionals in the 100 hurdles, a preseason Top 25 national ranking in the 100 hurdles and a No. 21 national ranking in the Indoor 60-meter hurdles with a personal best of 8.74 seconds. Morris also competed as a member of the 4x100 meter and 4x200-meter relay teams at the 5A Texas High School Regionals.
Morris's parents, Dale and Janet are Valley natives. Her father, Dale attended Fresno State where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
