FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State distance runners hit the Stanford Invitational Friday at Cobb Track. With hundreds of collegiate athletes competing in the meet, the Bulldogs took advantage of the stacked fields to better their career-best marks.
Frank Sanders stepped into the spotlight, running a career-best in the 1,500-meter race. The senior timed a 3:46.72 to take second in his section of the 1,500.
Eric Battles took third in his section of the 1,500, clocking a season-best 3:53.58 and coming within a tenth of a second of his career-best.
In the meet's longest race, the 10,000, Erick Garcia and Paul Zwama marked season-best times to finish in the Top 25. Garcia timed in at 29:45.95 and Zwama clocked a 29:55.63.
Roxanne Sellick, the lone woman running at the Stanford Invite for the Bulldogs, finished in the Top 10 her section of the 1,500 with a time of 4:35.16.
Fresno State returns to competition Saturday, April 3 at the Cal Poly Invitational.
