`Dogs Out Score Roadrunners, 10-4

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team pulled out another come from behind win Thursday night against CSU Bakersfield. The Bulldogs beat the Roadrunners, 10-4 and are 14-12 on the season.
The `Dogs took their first lead of the game in the seventh inning and secured their victory with an extra five run in the eighth inning.
Dusty Robinson and Justin Charles went 2-for-3 against the Runners pitching. Bobby Coyle also had a multiple hit night and recorded a game-high three RBIs.
The Bulldogs scored 10 runs on nine hits Thursday night. The pitching staff combined for seven strikeouts and Josh Poytress led the way with four.
The Roadrunners took the lead, 2-0, in the second inning with a two-run home run. CSUB extended their lead with another two-run home run in the third inning.
Second baseman Justin Charles recorded the first hit of the ball game for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the third inning. He singled through right side just passed the Runners first baseman.
The Bulldogs got out of a bases loaded jam by turning an unconventional double play with Charles catching a line and getting the runner at second base attempting to tag up.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, designated hitter Bobby Coyle led off with a single through the right side. First baseman Jordan Ribera walked moving Coyle to second base. Outfielder Dusty Robinson hit a stand up double down the left field line driving in a run and moving Ribera to third base as the `Dogs trail, 4-1.
Catcher Trent Garrison grounded out at first base allowing Ribera to score cutting the Roadrunners lead, 4-2.
Junior Garrett Weber hit a sacrifice fly to right field as Robinson crossed home plate and the Bulldogs trail, 4-3.
Poytress started on the mound for the Bulldogs, his seventh start of the season. The lefty threw six innings striking out four batters. Poytress sat down six consecutive batters starting in the fifth inning through the sixth inning.
In the seventh inning, Charles hit a single up the middle. Muno walked moving Charles to second base. Gowens reached on a fielder's choice as Charles was tagged out at third base. Coyle hit a stand up double into the gap in right center field bringing in two runners giving the Bulldogs their first lead of the night, 5-4.
Junior Gene Escat came out of the pen in relief in seventh inning. He threw two innings earning the win and is 3-0 on the year. Escat recorded one strikeout.
Weber singled through the left side to start the bottom of the eighth inning. He advanced to second base on a balk and moved to third base on a wild pitch. Detwiler reached base on a error that scored Weber increasing the Bulldogs lead, 6-4.
Shortstop Isacc Vivas hit a sacrifice bunt moving Detwiler to second base. Detwiler advanced to third base on a balk. Muno walked to put runners on the corners. Gowens reached on a fielder's choice and Detwiler scored on a throwing error home extending the `Dogs lead, 7-4.
Coyle grounded out allowing Muno to score increasing the Bulldogs lead, 8-4.
Ribera hit a two-run home run off the weight room in right field giving the Bulldogs their largest lead of the night, 10-4.
Senior Sean Bonesteele came in as the closer in the ninth inning striking out two batters.
The Bulldogs won the first game of the three-game series, 10-4.
